A Short Story Done – Writing Update #5.

Hear ye, hear ye!

Time for a Weekly Update!

I hope this week was great for you all. It was a decent one for me.

Short Story Progress

The short story has a first draft! During yesterday’s writing session I found a good place to end it. It turned out well, but I will reserve all my thoughts for editing. Many pesky problems arise after its first written. Things you wonder, like, “Why didn’t I spot that gigantic plot hole before?”

Should make for a laugh.

On the other hand, because it’s short, this probably won’t happen much. But one step is done! After letting my eyes see it fresh for next week, editing is abounding!

I love editing.

Two endings came up after realizing how I can make this stand apart for the future branching interactive take. I went with the one that made the character arc more complete; the other was an “uh oh, here comes the (character)” moment. More for the plot. But… that other take you might be playing one day!

Novel outlining… already?

As I was winding down for the night yesterday, I started making outlines for the rest of my novel. The idea was just pushing me to write; I had a hard time saying, “No, wait your turn”.

Just summarizing chapters I already have. That is not such an early jump, is that?

Whatever.

I am just so excited to do this as much as the other writing.

Update Change

No more weekly word counts. Overall word count or percentage instead! They give a better indication of progress, even without knowing exactly how long a story might be.

That will be all for this week. See you next time!

Short Story first draft finished: 2,088 words. Tentatively titled Hunting for a Trophy.

Just as Human Second Draft: Approximately 1/3rd written.
